Set an aquarium of evolving critters on your desktop !
This cellular automaton is designed to do two things :
- Produce self-replicating structures.
- Make structures that evolve over time.
Controls:
Right click: erase cells
Wheel: change the mutation rate (max : 14)
Space: pause
Enter: restart

I post this software now specifically because I lack the skills to optimize it and have given up on trying. Launch it if you dare put your eyes on a fps count below 10 !

Interesting little cellular automata. I was able to see that evolving aspect that you intended. Cool.
Thank you ! Sadly the overall shape remains quite the same, but the colours are varied enough.
Really? In one run I got this lattice shape that had voids in it that seemed to propagate very well.
Nice ! Maybe I should give the possibility of copying and setting the seed of a run, so people could replicate what others saw :)
That would be a cool feature to add if you wanted to keep working on this project!
